Ashley DeVecht is director of communications at the Metals Service Center Institute. She formerly served as managing editor at Imagination Publishing, a custom content agency, where she was in charge of associations’ social media presence and edited several association magazines.
Ashley has tried her hand at several types of media; she has worked for an industry magazine and a national consumer magazine and was the editor of her college paper. When she graduated from Hope College in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in English and communication, Ashley expected to ship off to the big city to start her career in publishing; she never expected to end up in the big city in the Midwest. But Chicago has truly stolen her heart, with its beaches and baseball fans, its skylines and hospitable spirit.
When she’s not banging out (yes, banging…she’s the loudest typist in the office) line after line of clever copy, Ashley enjoys camping, making up new recipes, and driving home to Michigan to be with family. She has a heart for the homeless and looks for opportunities to put that passion and her skill set to work for others. She hopes to soon launch a blog that shares the stories of those who have experienced homelessness.
